Our Geelong West chiropractors can help kids
It is well known in the general public, and even commentated on in the media, that chiropractors treat kids and provide paediatric treatments for infants and children.
Parents often wonder how and why The IN8 Life’s Geelong West chiropractors might be able to help, and why some people swear by chiropractic for their precious children and others might be scared of the thought.
The first important thing to understand is that what we do with adults is vastly different from what we do with children. Our techniques are incredibly gentle and tailored to your child’s specific needs.
Children under chiropractic care do not have years of injuries and repetitive habits, so usually understanding and working with them is a lot more straightforward and results are often instantaneous and very easy to see.
The reason we see children does not differ from the reason we see adults, but the approach we use does. The reason we see anybody in our Geelong West chiropractic studio is to ensure that their body is functioning optimally.
As with adults, what The IN8 Life’s Geelong West chiropractors will focus on with children is to really understand why symptoms may be present and get to the cause.
We do not treat any conditions, rather we optimise the function of the nervous system and body, gently and naturally, to give your child the best chance of achieving his or her potential.
The following lists the most common reasons why an infant or child might be expressing symptoms. If your child has experienced any of the following then we might be able to help:
- The birth process was assisted with forceps or vacuum extraction or pulling on the head or neck
- Caesarean section
- Baby was accidentally dropped
- Physical abuse
- Large falls on to head or neck
- Repetitive posture from specific sports (eg. tennis) creating muscle imbalance
- Lack of oxygen at birth, resulting in cerebral palsy
These may give rise to any of the following symptoms or conditions, and more:
- Hips that click or uneven fat folds on the legs (hip dysplasia)
- Concentration or behavioural disruption
- Difficulty breastfeeding/feeding
- Head turns better in one direction
- Favours one arm or leg
- Excessive crying
A health evaluation of kids by our Geelong West chiropractors will allow us to honestly tell you whether we think chiropractic care may help a child, or guide parents in the right direction.
